Want the answer for your home?
Tell us your ZIP code and a rep calls you within 5 minutes to answer every question. No pressure, no sales visit.
You're probably on this page because:
- You got a $7,000 quote from a salesperson who wouldn't leave
- Your family complains their skin feels dry after every shower
- You're scrubbing white crust off the faucets every weekend
You shouldn't need a sales pitch to fix your water. Here's the price.
What hard water looks like
Crusty shower head. White buildup clogs the spray.
Faucet scale. Comes right back after you scrub.
Cloudy glasses. Even right out of the dishwasher.
Hard water stains on glass. That foggy film that won't wipe off.
Dry, itchy skin. Soap film stays on your skin.
Dull, stiff hair. Conditioner can't fix it.
Scratchy laundry. Towels come out stiff and dull.
Scale inside your appliances. The damage you don't see.
See 2 or more of these? Your water is hard.
Hard water, by the numbers
- About 156 pounds of rock a year. That's how much calcium and magnesium a family of 4 runs through its pipes every year at 10 grains of hardness. In very hard water, it's about 250 pounds.
- Up to 48% less efficient. Gas water heaters on hard water lost up to 48% of their efficiency.
- Clogged in 18 months. Hard water clogged low-flow shower heads in as little as a year and a half.
- 1 in 3 homeowners replaced appliances or fixtures because of buildup, and 66% were embarrassed when guests noticed.
- About 85% of US homes have hard water.
Sources: pounds per year = 300 gallons a day (75 per person, family of 4) × grains of hardness × 64.8 mg per grain × 365 days; water heater and shower head figures: WQRF and Battelle studies; appliance and embarrassment figures: Morton Salt survey via the Philadelphia Inquirer; 85% figure: Market Growth Reports.

An estimate, not a guarantee. Your numbers depend on your water, your home and your habits. Enter your ZIP code to use your local hardness; until then it assumes 10 grains.
Sources: Water heater efficiency: WQRF and Battelle (gas tank heaters lost up to 48% efficiency on hard water; the calculator uses a conservative middle value). Detergent: WQRF laundry and dishwasher studies (about 30% less at 10 gpg, nearly 70% less at 25 gpg). Fixtures: Battelle (low-flow shower heads clogged in about 18 months on hard water). Appliance figures are our own conservative estimate until customer data replaces them.

Our take
What's really inside a $7,000 dealer quote
After [thousands] of softeners sold and 20+ years wholesaling water equipment to other companies, here's what we've learned.
When a dealer quotes $7,000 in your living room, you're not paying $7,000 for equipment. A dealer quote usually bundles four things: the equipment, the install labor, the sales cost of the person sitting at your table, which one installer estimates at 15 to 25% of the quote, and often financing or a service contract built in.
We cut out the in-home salesperson, and we buy direct from our own manufacturers, so the price you see is mostly equipment and a licensed install.
Whoever you buy from, a fair quote should list:
- The grain size and resin type
- The control valve brand and model
- The carbon type (catalytic for chloramine cities)
- The RO stages and whether it's tank or tankless
- The warranty on each part, in writing
- Anything extra, like long pipe runs, priced before you sign
If a quote won't list these, you can't compare it to anyone else's, and that's usually on purpose. Every one of our systems lists all six.
No middleman. That's how our prices stay low.
We work directly with our own manufacturers and even supply softeners to other water companies. That's why we can put one flat price on a top-quality system.

Questions people ask
What's included in standard installation?
Connecting your system at the main water line, with a drain and an outlet nearby, by a licensed local plumber. It also covers the reverse osmosis install under your kitchen sink and the before-and-after water test.
When would the price change?
Only if your home needs extra work, like a long pipe run, moving plumbing, or trenching. We quote that before you book. Never at install.
Why is your price flat when other companies quote in my home?
Because most homes need the same thing. Your ZIP code and home size tell us which system fits, so there's no need for a salesperson in your living room.
Which system is right for me?
On city water, most homes choose the City Water System. Bigger homes or very hard water: the Premium Dual-Tank. On a well: the Well Water System, after a free test. Want everything: the Ultimate.
What's the difference between the City Water System and the Premium Dual-Tank?
Both soften, filter and include reverse osmosis. The Dual-Tank splits softening and carbon into two dedicated tanks with more media, so the media lasts longer and keeps up with bigger households.
Why do your systems include reverse osmosis?
Whole-house filtration protects every tap. Reverse osmosis goes further at the kitchen sink, removing dissolved stuff carbon can't catch, like fluoride and most total dissolved solids. Filtered water everywhere, purified water where you drink and cook.
What is remineralization?
RO water is very pure, which also means the minerals are gone. A remineralization stage adds calcium and magnesium back for better taste.
How fast can you install?
Usually within a week of booking. [Confirm typical timing.]
Can I finance it?
Homeowners may qualify for $0 down financing through Ygrene PACE, where available.
What if I don't notice a difference?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee on the system. Installation and removal labor aren't refunded.
