Our take
How to pick a shower filter that actually lasts
We make whole-house systems with our own manufacturers and wholesale to water companies, and the same standards go into our store products.
Shower filters have a hard job: hot water, high flow and a tiny cartridge. That's why cheap ones stop working within weeks, and why most people never know.
Three things we look for: The right media for your water. If your city uses chloramine, like Tampa, Miami, Dallas or Houston, look for vitamin C or a chloramine-rated blend. Plain carbon struggles in hot water. Cartridge life you can count on. Look for a stated gallon rating or time frame, not "long-lasting." A housing that won't leak or crack. Cheap plastic housings warp from heat over time.
Shower filter or whole-house? If you rent, or just want better showers today, start with the shower filter. If you own your home and also see spots, scale or chlorine taste at the sink, a whole-house system fixes every tap at once, and the shower filter becomes optional.

Questions people ask
Do shower filters really work?
For chlorine, yes. A good shower filter cuts the chlorine and pool smell, which is what dries out a lot of people's skin and hair.
Do shower filters help with hard water?
A little. They reduce some buildup, but they can't fully remove hardness. For that, you need a whole-house softener.
How often should I change my shower filter?
About every 6 months for most homes. Subscribe and the new cartridge shows up on time.
Does a shower filter remove fluoride?
Generally no. Fluoride takes reverse osmosis, which is for drinking water.
Will a shower filter lower my water pressure?
It shouldn't noticeably. If pressure drops over time, it's usually time for a new cartridge.
Will it fit my shower?
It fits standard shower arms. [Confirm fittings.]
Are shower filters worth it?
If chlorine dries out your skin or hair, yes. It's one of the cheapest upgrades for your daily routine.
Will it help my dry skin and hair?
Many people notice skin and hair feel softer within a week, because there's less chlorine. Results vary.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 30 days. [Confirm store return terms.]
