You're probably on this page because:
- Your family complains their skin feels dry after every shower
- Your tap water smells like a swimming pool
- Your glasses come out of the dishwasher cloudy
It's not you. It's your water. And it's an easy fix.
What hard water looks like
Crusty shower head. White buildup clogs the spray.
Faucet scale. Comes right back after you scrub.
Cloudy glasses. Even right out of the dishwasher.
Hard water stains on glass. That foggy film that won't wipe off.
Dry, itchy skin. Soap film stays on your skin.
Dull, stiff hair. Conditioner can't fix it.
Scratchy laundry. Towels come out stiff and dull.
Scale inside your appliances. The damage you don't see.
See 2 or more of these? Your city water is hard.
Hard water, by the numbers
- About 156 pounds of rock a year. That's how much calcium and magnesium a family of 4 runs through its pipes every year at 10 grains of hardness. In very hard water, it's about 250 pounds.
- Up to 48% less efficient. Gas water heaters on hard water lost up to 48% of their efficiency.
- Clogged in 18 months. Hard water clogged low-flow shower heads in as little as a year and a half.
- 1 in 3 homeowners replaced appliances or fixtures because of buildup, and 66% were embarrassed when guests noticed.
- About 85% of US homes have hard water.
Sources: pounds per year = 300 gallons a day (75 per person, family of 4) × grains of hardness × 64.8 mg per grain × 365 days; water heater and shower head figures: WQRF and Battelle studies; appliance and embarrassment figures: Morton Salt survey via the Philadelphia Inquirer; 85% figure: Market Growth Reports.
Three systems in one
| Part | What it fixes |
|---|---|
| Softener [confirm grain] | Spots, scale, dry skin |
| Carbon filter | Chlorine taste and smell |
| Reverse osmosis (7-stage, tankless) | Pure drinking water |
| Remineralization | Better-tasting water |
Dealers charge that much for the softener alone
Dealer brands often quote $4,000 to $10,000+ for just a softener, and $1,000 to $3,000 more for RO.
Here you get both, plus filtration, for $2,950.
One flat price. No surprises.
Standard install: hooked up at your main water line, near a drain and outlet, plus RO under your kitchen sink.
Extra work? Long pipe runs or trenching get quoted before you book. Never at install.

Our take
Why we put the carbon filter before the softener
We build our systems with our own manufacturers, some with our own patents, and we've supplied softeners to other water companies for years. Here's what that's taught us.
Order matters. In our City Water System, the water hits the carbon filter first, then the softener. Here's why.
Chlorine and chloramine don't just affect taste. Over time, they break down softener resin, the beads that do the softening. Resin that should last well over a decade can wear out years sooner on chlorinated city water. Putting carbon in front takes the chlorine out first, so the resin lasts longer and keeps softening like new.
Then the reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink gets water that's already soft and filtered. That's easier on the RO membrane, so it lasts longer too.
The last stage, remineralization, adds a little calcium and magnesium back into your drinking water. RO water is very pure, and some people find it tastes flat. The minerals bring the taste back.
It's the same reason we use catalytic carbon [confirm] in chloramine cities like Tampa, Miami, Dallas and Houston: regular carbon handles chlorine fine but struggles with chloramine. Every part of this system is chosen and ordered so the next part lasts longer.

Questions people ask
Is $2,950 really the full price?
Yes, for standard installation. The only time it changes is if your home needs extra work, like a long pipe run or trenching, and we quote that before you book.
What size softener is in the City Water System?
[Confirm grain size.] We size it for homes up to about [5] people. Bigger households or very hard water usually go with the Premium Dual-Tank.
Does the system remove chlorine?
Yes. The carbon filtration takes chlorine taste and smell out of every tap and shower, and the reverse osmosis takes care of your drinking water.
Do I need reverse osmosis if I have a softener?
A softener removes hardness, not contaminants. Reverse osmosis removes dissolved stuff like fluoride, lead and most total dissolved solids, so it's what makes your drinking water truly clean.
Is reverse osmosis water good for you?
Yes. It's very clean water, and most of the minerals you need come from food, not water. Our remineralization stage adds calcium and magnesium back for taste.
Does reverse osmosis waste water?
All RO systems send some water down the drain to flush the membrane. Newer tankless systems like ours waste far less than older tank systems [confirm ratio].
How long does installation take?
Usually a few hours, done by a licensed local plumber. Most installs happen within a week of booking [confirm].
Can I finance it?
Homeowners may qualify for $0 down financing through Ygrene PACE, where available.
What if I don't notice a difference?
30-day money-back guarantee on the system. Installation and removal labor aren't refunded.
